 FAQs

  • Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on therapy that draws on a deep knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the brain. It works with the body’s muscles, joints, and connective tissues to improve mobility, ease pain, and restore healthy function. Osteopathy not only supports physical wellbeing but can also help release patterns of tension that are often linked to stress or past experiences.

Psychotherapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore emotional health, trauma, and the mind–body connection. It helps to process traumatic experiences, shift unhelpful patterns, and build resilience, so that past events no longer dictate present wellbeing.

When combined, osteopathy and psychotherapy offer a truly holistic path to healing — addressing both the body and the mind, so you can experience change at every level.

  • A Psychologist is a registered health professional trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health conditions. In Australia, psychologists are authorised to provide formal mental health diagnoses and psychological testing. Some primarily focus on assessment and diagnosis, while others also provide ongoing therapy.

A Psychotherapist is also a registered mental health professional, but with different qualifications and a distinct approach. Unlike psychologists, psychotherapists do not provide formal diagnoses. Instead, psychotherapy centres on the healing process itself — helping people to process trauma, explore the deeper roots of emotional difficulties, shift unhelpful patterns, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Psychotherapists with appropriate training and registration — such as myself — undertake years of specialised education and clinical practice focused on the therapeutic process, often with particular expertise in working with trauma and complex emotional challenges.

  • No, you do not need a referral — you are welcome to book directly. However, some patients do come through referrals from their GP, specialist, psychiatrist, psychologist, or other health practitioners.

  • Osteopathy is covered by most private health funds, with rebates available depending on your level of cover. Psychotherapy is not currently included under Medicare, although some private health funds do offer rebates for counselling and psychotherapy services. As policies vary, it is best to check directly with your health fund to confirm what you are entitled to claim.

  • The initial osteopathy consultation is 45 minutes, while the initial psychotherapy session is 90 minutes.

Follow-up osteopathy sessions are usually 45 minutes, though this may vary depending on the severity and complexity of your condition.

Psychotherapy follow-ups are available in either 60- or 90-minute sessions, depending on your needs, preferences, and how deeply you would like to work in each session.

  • This depends on your goals and individual circumstances. Some clients notice improvement after just a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support. We’ll work together to create a plan that suits you
